#devi durga maa
Navratri is an important festival in Hinduism which is celebrated to worship nine forms of Goddess Durga. This festival comes twice a year:
1. Chaitra Navratri (March-April)
2. Sharad Navratri (September-October)
### Why is Chaitra Navratri celebrated?
1. Arrival of spring season – Chaitra Navratri is celebrated with the beginning of Hindu New Year (Shukla Pratipada of Chaitra month), which symbolizes the rejuvenation of nature.
2. Worship of Goddess Durga – During these nine days, different forms of Shakti (Durga) are worshipped, which symbolizes the victory of good over evil. 3. **Relation with Ramayana** – It is believed that **Lord Rama** won over Ravana by worshipping **Goddess Durga** during Chaitra Navratri.
4. **Start of Navsamvatsar** – According to the Hindu calendar, the new year starts from this day, which is also celebrated as **Gudi Padwa** (Maharashtra) and **Ugadi** (Telangana, Karnataka).
### **Importance**
- **Fasting, worship, havan and chanting of mantras** are done during these nine days.
- **Kanya Pujan** (feeding nine girls) has special significance.
- **Ramnavami** is celebrated on the day of Navami, which is famous as the birth anniversary of Lord Rama.
Chaitra Navratri is a symbol of **religion, culture and the beginning of a new session**, so it is celebrated with great reverence. ЁЯЩП✨
